The design process regards to the construction of a pavilion at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, in Athens. It concerns a light, temporary structure, that will function as an information point on the SNFCC during the course of the construction, that would be completed in 2015. In order to honor the gesture of the foundation to sponsore a project that will upgrade environmentally and culturally the city of Athens, the design is inspired by the logo of the cultural center and reflects its three fundamentals (the park, the opera, the library). This way a building with symbolic value derives, a building that seals the foundation\u2019s gesture. Morphological the logo is maintained in the composition, through the three stripes on which the main volumes are developed. At the same time the principals that each one of them represent are retained conceptually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first stripe, that represent the park, includes the main entrance in the east and the main hall with the information point, as a reference to the operation of the park through a roofed public place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second stripe that symbolizes the library hosts the lecture hall with capacity of 65 people. There is also a small storage for technological equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the third stripe the meaning of opera can be understood though metallic chords, able to produce sound effects by touching. Those chords are placed on site in a way to amplify the division of the stripes. A triangular high rised skylight is placed at the intersection point, bearing a solar panel, as well as producing a \u201ccenter of gravity\u201d, thanks to which the various movements are being distributed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
