The study concerns the construction of a residential complex on a corner plot of 281 sq.m., which is developed in a high-altitude area with an unobstructed view of the horizon. The basic compositional principle arose from the requirement to form three independent and self-contained volumes of duplexes, an element that largely determined their placement within the limited plot.
The three building volumes are placed in contact with the boundaries of the plot on at least one side each and are developed in successive, staggered levels, following the natural slope of the ground. This choice serves on the one hand the optimal integration into the topographic relief and on the other hand the assurance of the maximum possible visual escape towards the landscape, especially for the southernmost duplex.
The main objective of the study was to create quality outdoor relaxation spaces, with an emphasis on the ground floor residences, which, due to their lower level, lack direct visual contact with the wider horizon. In this context, private patios are designed in direct continuation of the bedrooms, which function as intermediate transition spaces between the interior and exterior environments. The boundaries of the patios are defined by twine, a material that contributes decisively to the morphological identity of the complex.
The choice of threads, combined with the monochromatic palette of shades of beige, lends a unified and coherent expression to the entire volume design, highlighting the plasticity of the volumes and the materiality of the surfaces. This conscious monochromy, which refers to an abstract, almost maquette-like approach to the composition, is selectively interrupted by the inclusion of intense color elements.
Specifically, the red volume of the semi-outdoor space on the third floor of the building, as well as the corresponding chromatic gestures on the architectural protrusions of the bedroom openings on the floors of all three buildings, function as points of visual intensity and differentiation. Through them, the aim is to create diverse spatial experiences and highlight individual qualities in the spaces developed throughout the complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
