The study concerns an addition to an existing residence. The existing two-story building is composed of a ground floor where the common areas are organized and a floor consisting entirely of the bedroom of the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The goal of the study is the extension of the residence towards the citrus orchard that occupies the largest area of \u200b\u200bthe plot. In order to make the new addition distinct, it is chosen to maintain the introversion of the existing house with the small openings on the facades and to give great extroversion to the new volume, while making the most of the visual contact with the orchard. In this direction, the extensive use of glazing on the facades is chosen. To avoid unwanted radiation, vertical rotating blinds are placed on the south-east facades, generously participating in the composition of the facades. The entire structure is chosen to be lightweight metal, again opposed to the solid conventional shell of the existing monoblock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Between the old and the new, the core of the stairwell is placed, uniting and separating the two volumes. As for the composition of the interior, it follows the synthesis of the existing one with the ground floor housing the common areas and the upper floor the private ones. An important gesture in the composition is the demarcation of the guest house and part of the living room with a stone wall along the entire height of the building, adding yet another element to the vocabulary of a clean reading of new-old.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
