The project concerns the configuration of a 50m2 ground floor residence in the seaside area of \u200b\u200bEmporeios in Chios. The elongated shape of the floor plan with access from the narrow facade led to the organization of the interior spaces in a row. The user, entering the accommodation through the three-meter glass door, encounters an open kitchen-living room with the bathroom and bedroom completing the composition of the open plan that characterizes the study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The design approach draws inspiration from the natural environment and the uniqueness of the place. The landscape of the area with the volcano, the mountains and the unique beach \u2018Mavra Volia\u2019, influenced the choices of materials and textures. The kitchen was designed in earthy tones of olive and beige that tie in with the natural color palette, with the islet – with its marble detail for support – acting as a focal point. In the bathroom, the carved rock-shaped sink and the irregular column with shelves refer to cavities in natural rock. The toilet is hidden behind vertically inclined wooden elements, preventing visual contact with the corridor and delimiting the space of the free-standing bathtub. The bedroom is characterized by the strong presence of wood in a linear arrangement horizontally and vertically, from the wardrobes to the headboard of the bed, creating a sense of continuity. The furniture, lighting and individual decorative elements that have been selected complement the sculptural approach of the design with soft textures, curves and natural materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ultimate goal of the study was for the residence not to impose itself on the landscape, but to integrate into it with indirect references to elements of the geology of Emporeios, offering users a bright and harmonious seaside accommodation for peace and relaxation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
